Regarding the impounding of the 500 plus firearm arsenal in Clovis: On Nov. 20, The Bee reported that the mental health issue that lead to the gun owner being placed on the APPS registry was being taken into custody on a 5150. A 5150 is an involuntary hold placed when an individual is a danger to himself, a danger to others, or gravely disabled. This judgment is made by law enforcement officers and mental health professionals. Those arguing against firearm regulation always say that guns aren’t the problem, they just need to be kept out of the hands of the dangerously mentally ill. It seems to me that anyone requiring a 5150 would clear that hurdle easily.
