I have two things to say:
The first is about leaf blowers. Stop using them. Let’s not pretend our Valley air isn’t toxic enough, but when peppered with the fragrant eau de diesel gasoline. Children, young adults and the elderly all suffer or know someone who is affected by poor air quality. Small changes like banning leaf blowers is an obvious step in the right direction to allow for even moderate air quality.
We can’t just pretend we aren’t poisoning our beautiful world.
Second: The headline describing the meeting between Vladimir Putin and President Obama as printed in The Bee on Sept. 29. In one word: “AWKWARD,” printed in all caps as if a tween tweeted this article to a casual friend.
Never miss a local story.
I felt mortified for the newspaper staff writers and I felt embarrassed to be an American citizen. We have nothing else to add to this complex and important discussion other than an informal explanation that belong more in the film, “Clueless,” than headlining the front page of a very serious, international, political news story.
Shame on The Bee for not seeing how utterly ridiculous and humiliating that headline was. All I can say is: Awkward!
