I read the Aug. 9 article about booze in Fresno. I couldn’t believe my eyes – 5,529 alcohol-related calls for police service in 2014 and they didn’t include all the bars that are robbed, the hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage, the millions of dollars in lawsuits.
They did, however, list the fatalities, the calls near schools and the list goes on. If those numbers were associated with cannabis, I can’t even imagine what the outrage would be from City Hall. But since it is alcohol, the mayor’s position is “let the people dance.”
Not everybody likes alcohol or shredding their liver to unwind at the end of the day. Stop the hypocrisy and close down a few bars and open up some cannabis dispensaries in their place so all of the people can dance.
