If citizens comply with watering restrictions and allow their lawns and shrubs to go “Brown” (pun intended), what will happen to the army of gardeners in California who come and mow, blow and go?
Will homeowners decide it is not worth paying for their service to just blow and go? Will these gardeners join the thousands of farm workers displaced from employment by the drought?
Because all green plants produce oxygen, can we expect a very small reduction in oxygen supply from the loss of the green lawns and shrubs? Probably not enough to be noticed, but still another calamity caused by the drought and one which will in a small way contribute to our already fouled air.
