Wasn’t it wonderful to see the mother slapping her son to get him away from being on the streets during the civil unrest? For some, that must have been really a delight to see and to comment upon such.
Now, will the issues that sparked the unrest, such as the claim of decades of police brutality be addressed? Will the issues of high unemployment and lack of employment training for African American males be addressed? Will the issues of decades of poverty and school dropout (push-out) rates be addressed, and so forth? And, why would the mother say that she did what she did because she does not want her son to end up like Freddie Gray? Why would she say that, really?
Now that the unrest has quieted and “they are thugs” and the mother has slapped her son, and the amusement, for some it seems, is declining, will things go back to business, including blackish business, as usual?
Or, is it more police, and more National Guard, and more prisons, and another mother trying to protect her son from being killed, all that is needed?
Never miss a local story.
