I have been at Manchester G.A.T.E. school for five years and every year I have had a problem with cockroaches.
I know that every city has cockroaches, but I do not think it is right that we should constantly see cockroaches in our classroom. At recess, lots of students and teachers talk about the cockroach problem in several of our rooms.
Just last week, I was sitting at my desk and a giant cockroach crawled right next to my foot and across the room. My teacher highly suggests we don’t put our bags on the floor, so that cockroaches don’t crawl into them and take a trip home.
I feel like my teacher is the only one willing to spend money on this problem, but that isn’t right. She has placed cockroach traps in our classroom, but it shouldn’t only be our teacher’s responsibility. Students shouldn’t be distracted from school because they’re worrying about cockroaches crawling across their shoes. The school and the district need to invest more money to stop this cockroach catastrophe.
