Carol Lawson-Swezey’s April 25 Valley Voices commentary on volunteer work is one to which all volunteers can relate. We are among the many serving here in the mountain areas, mainly at museums and historic sites. There is something about “those treasured moments, precious hours and spent days [that] can never be recovered again. All the more reason to spend them wisely now ... giving of time and resources liberally and without hesitation.”
We who volunteer our time are blessed with a return no paid job can give. The feeling of giving of ourselves to a worthy cause, no matter what it be, gives us pride, new knowledge, new friends and “every one of them would say that they get back more than they give. They feel useful and necessary, and it gives them a reason to set one foot in front of another on this amazing yet jagged path we call life.”
We invite everyone to join the ranks of those who benefit greatly by becoming volunteers!
