So far, the projected total cost for the high-speed rail system is in excess of $60 billion. The cost to build a dam at Temperance Flat, above Lake Millerton, is just under $3 billion. I wonder how many desalination plants could be built with all the money that will eventually be squandered on HSR?
But wait! Certain politicians and others must be gaining big bucks by pushing HSR. Isn’t that the way politics usually goes?
This drought is bad for sure, but it also could last much longer and our state politicians continue to fiddle away in the meantime.
