Fresno County employees worked hard and beyond the call of duty during the Great Recession, even after they were cut in pay while the Board of Supervisors rationalized why they should give themselves a raise.
A great percentage of Fresno County employees have college educations, in the sheriff’s office, corrections, mental health, child protective services, public health, social services and many other departments.
Employees in these departments often leave a quote when communicating with each other in various departments.
One quote that stands out is from Abraham Lincoln: “Don’t worry that you are not acknowledged, worry about doing things that you should be acknowledged for.”
Fresno County employees continue to work without being acknowledged, but now is the time to acknowledge the employees by giving back to them.
The Board of Supervisors went beyond freezing wages; they cut wages illegally under contract. It is time for the new Board of Supervisors to correct this wrong.
