Monday and Tuesday of this week, I was privileged to be a judge s at the Clovis elementary schools' bi-annual Choral Festival.
Over 3,200 students from 32 schools spent their days honoring life with positive and beautiful musical sounds. Such an assemblage of excellence, to my knowledge, is not duplicated in any other city in the United States. Bravo, directors, students and organizers!
This is only the tip of the musical iceberg one can experience at every level (elementary, middle and high school) in both the vocal and instrumental genres in the district.
I strongly encourage the public media, both written and visual, to more consistently cover this type of event. Certainly the normal news of the day varies from negative to scary. I encourage the media to be in contact with personnel at the vocal and performing arts center in the Clovis Unified School District to follow up and report on the beauty of youthful excellence, the most well-behaved performers I've ever judged.
Never miss a local story.
