Edelmira is a woman who has lived in Fresno for 35 years. She doesn’t have much; yet she saves $20 at the beginning of every year just for Kids Day. She supports Kids Day because the youngest of her seven children was hospitalized quite a bit.
Up until her youngest daughter turned 6 years old, she would take her to Valley Medical Center. Then she learned about Valley Children’s Hospital. Her daughter’s hospitalizations would continue there until she was 10 years. And now she is 35.
Stories are very powerful! When I heard this story, tears came to my eyes. Times are hard; yet, people who don’t have much still give from the kindness of their hearts or because they are so grateful to an organization that has helped them.
We should show appreciation to all individuals in our community who make a difference.
