Use the I-5 highway median to create a water, not oil, pipeline from Washington and Oregon down through the Central Valley and its reservoirs. Use the to bring “excess” Pacific Northwest water to us. Virtually no additional land required (it’s already there). Put it above ground, right down the median — pumping stations, too.
You better believe that Pacific Northwest residents will gladly open up their spigots when they see how much our California farmers will pay to get what we so desperately need!
How much will it cost? I don’t know, but an estimate for the Alberta tar sands to Gulf Coast oil pipeline runs under $10 billion. And this is water, folks, not oil! What about a leak you say? Again, its H2O!
Come on Sens. Feinstein and Boxer, get it going now. Pull a Saint Patrick’s Day shenanigan and do something for us for a change!
