I attended a Fresno County Planning Commission hearing regarding the Running Luck Ranch Mining Project on the Kings River near Sanger. I was very disappointed on the outcome, which was the approval this 75-year project. Do we really need another mine in this area? No. We have three other mines within five miles of each other.
I must commend the one commissioner who voted against this project. The commissioner brought up the cost of rural road upgrades and other concerns that may interfere with the health and safety of those who live in the area.
Lastly, do we really want to leave our future generations yet another environmental mess to clean up? Drive on Friant Road and look at that mess! So please help save this beautiful river by telling our Board of Supervisors we do not need another destructive eye sore. I would like to share this Native American prophecy: “When all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breath, only then will you discover you cannot eat money.”
