To start with, who gets more unpaid air time on talk radio, TV and in print when not many of these are owned by the poor? Remember when the biggest TV networks were beating the drums for the war in Iraq? Did anyone take into consideration that the owners of these networks were also our leading “defense” contractors, which stood to make billions off a war?
A friend once told me that when Australia ran its campaign to get guns out of the hands of its population that crime soared. His source of info? The National Rifle Association. I did some research and found that the Aussie government statistics showed just the opposite. Who to believe?
Once, the well-respected news show “The MacNeill-Lehrer Report” on “bias-free” public TV had as one of its “underwriters” (sponsors) Archer-Daniels-Midland, one of our biggest convicted corporate criminals. ADM was never shown in a bad light on that show.
