I noticed the disparity in coverage between Fresno State and Fresno Pacific University baseball in the Feb. 21 edition of The Bee.
Fresno State received a 10-paragraph report about its loss to Nevada on Page 3 of the paper. On page 6, the writers listed a comprehensive box score for both teams. Well done.
As for Fresno Pacific, on page 4, under Local Briefs, there was a skinny four-paragraph report about its victory over San Francisco State. On Page 6, the box score was listed for both teams; and it resembled the box scores for high school games, not a comprehensive box score that a university should receive. Why? The Fresno Pacific parents are saving clippings; put both teams’ lineups in print. Not well done.
Kudos to the writers for listing Fresno Pacific’s baseball schedule, though.
Never miss a local story.
Both schools are Fresno schools. Both are universities: California State “University” Fresno and Fresno Pacific “University.” My question to the writers: Why the disparity in covering the two Fresno universities?
