The Bee again missed out on providing any coverage of the California Band Directors Association 58th Annual Convention/Music Education Conference, which was held at Saroyan Theatre in Fresno.
This assemblage of outstanding high school and junior high school students showcased what our motivated young people can accomplish. The Saroyan was crowded with parents and friends of these young musicians, and they were thrilled with their performances.
During the four days of this conference, the young musicians were exposed to clinics, which were presented by notable clinicians, teachers and music professors. The culmination of these clinics were performances by the young musicians. The quality of work was outstanding, and it was a treat to see how accomplished the musicians are, as well as the level of competency of their music.
This concert was especially refreshing after reading the extensive coverage in The Bee about Fashawn and his not-so-role model life in Sunday’s Bee. If you did not attend these sessions, you missed out on exemplary experiences provided for these outstanding young performers.
Never miss a local story.
Next year, this conference will be held in San Jose where I hope coverage will be at a much higher level than this missed opportunity of The Fresno Bee.
