I have no idea who was involved in the decision to install irrigation systems and new plants on Highway 180 between Clovis and Temperance avenues recently, but as we enter another year of drought, with wells going dry and water restrictions, why would anyone waste all of this money and water?
All you have to do is look at all of the weeds, dead shrubs and trees along Highway 41 and west of Clovis Avenue on Highway 180, to realize this program just does not work in Fresno. We just do not have the money, labor or water to maintain this type of landscaping.
Someone from Caltrans needs to travel to Arizona and see the beautiful freeways around Phoenix and Scottsdale, where they use colored gravel and rocks that don’t need water!
Never miss a local story.
