I just want to compliment the staff at Roger Rocka’s. My husband and I attended on Valentine’s Day night and everything was great. The show, the Junior Company Players, my salmon, our table mates, etc.
About the middle of the beautiful rendition of “Someone to Watch Over Me,” the lights came up and we were told to evacuate because of smoke in the building. People kind of stared blankly, including me, and we were calmly told it wasn’t part of the show. The employees and actors were all professional in keeping everyone calm and getting us out. My husband and I even got to see backstage in our exit. Apparently, the hot water heater caught fire or something and as soon as we got into the parking lot and alley, there were lots of fire trucks — and an ambulance for someone who fainted. I learned later that one of the actors put the fire out.
The show went on. We went back in, were served dessert by our incredible waitress “Clare.” I hope she didn’t think my bad attempt at a joke was lame, but I told Ms. Pessano that the show was “smokin’.”
Never miss a local story.
