I would like to add a note to Fred Dillon’s excellent letter (Feb. 18) reviewing attacks against Jews throughout history. The Jews get blamed for a lot of what goes wrong in the world including the current unrest in the Middle East. Israel is one of the smallest nations in the world surrounded by 22 Arab-speaking countries extending over an area of 12.9 million miles, larger than Europe, Canada, China or the U.S. The nation of Israel’s land mass is a meager 10,000 square miles, not much bigger than Fresno County.
Fourteen million Jews make up less than 2% of the world’s population but some are convinced that 2% is responsible for everything. Had Hitler succeeded and there was no need for a Jewish homeland, I wonder if the Middle East would be any better than it is now and if the rest of the world would be living in peace and harmony.
