While David Bigelow’s letter (Feb. 14) about developers fees has some merit, I think Mr. Bigelow is missing the big picture.
The developers are taking land that pays $800 per year in taxes and then building four homes on quarter-acre lots, which then brings in $25,000 to $40,000 per year in taxes. How much does Mr. Bigelow want the government to have?
No matter how much the fees are, and no matter the increase in taxes in land value, it will never be enough. Finding out what’s enough in taxes is like finding the end of the universe, because you will find neither.
