Regarding the article “Immigrant cases may drag on” (Feb. 2): Illegal immigrants are trying to follow the laws and trying to be legalized. This is a major issue that has been going on and on. I can’t understand why the government cannot get to the bottom of this. They are not any different than people born in the United States, as it is stated in the constitution that all men are created equal.
Legal immigrants are not here to harm the economy. Illegal immigrants are important to some industries, especially California farming. Agriculture industry could suffer permanently if workers were not allowed on the fields.
President Obama once said, “It been this way for decades” and for decades nothing has been done.
We need more federal funds to pay for more judges, courts and supporting staff to expedite all these cases. By legalizing these people, we would all benefit, even Republicans who are against Obama’s policies.
