We all know the infrastructure vote is a joke.
Just the city trying to get around a Proposition 218 vote, and that may end up in court. The bigger problem is that if you think that the downstream farmers are just going to stand by and let the Fresno siphon off 133,000 acre-feet of water, you must have bumped your head.
They are lining up the best water-rights attorneys and will tie this up in litigation for years. Guess what? You will have a waste-water plant without access to the water the city said it would have.
The farmers will win, not just because we always cave to their saber rattling, but because they will have better lawyers, and the city can’t afford the fight. Ratepayers lose again.
