Am I the only citizen who has had it with panhandlers?
They are everywhere, on every street corner, in the medians, at the off-ramps, even in the middle of the blocks on Shaw, Blackstone and Herndon avenues, and others.
We see the same faces, day in and day out. The panhandlers, with their signs and their belongings, have inundated Fresno.
It breaks my heart when I see dogs tied up and sequestered hour after hour, especially in the hot sun. The panhandlers use every excuse to be standing or sitting there and the predominant sign is a variation on the theme of being hungry.
Never miss a local story.
You and I know they want money, but to do with it as they please — we can only guess what that is! For the few who are out there legitimately, the greatest percentage is to attend to their life style “needs.”
What happened to licensing the panhandlers? A few years back, the Fresno City Council and the Fresno Police Department promised to make strides at curbing this activity. It is worse than ever.
What can be done? A remedy is long overdue.
