Thank you, Douglas Gordon (letter Jan. 31), for your thoughtful comment regarding Jamela Vanessa Brown.
I was once her teacher. She had challenges most people can’t even imagine. She is a young mother with three small children, without the money or support that others take for granted. Maybe we should all be helping her instead of judging her actions.
Right now she should be at the hospital with her babies. They are probably scared and need their mother by their side. This event was an accident. Yes, they shouldn’t have been left alone, but imagine walking with three young children under the age of 5, one mile to the store and back to get milk or diapers.
Believe me, I have two granddaughters that age, and it would not be easy. Let’s help Ms. Brown instead of judging her.
