It is sickening to think that $13.2 billion in tax dollars, so desperately needed to fund mental health programs throughout the state, are largely unaccounted for and clearly do not appear to have been used for the stated purpose of Prop. 63.
The big question is what have our elected state representatives from the governor on down been doing for the last 10 years to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities to the taxpayers and moral responsibility to the people they represent who desperately need mental health services?
The current situation should be a huge wake-up call for all responsible voters to send a strong clear message to Sacramento that this kind of abdication of responsibility by our elected state officials will no longer be tolerated.
I am not holding my breath for the next six weeks while leading proponent Darrell Steinberg yawns, wakes up and realizes there is no valid data to prove that Prop. 63 has worked.
Never miss a local story.
