I read the online article by Michael Doyle concerning the Delta smelt Supreme Court decision to let stand a 9th Circuit Court decision.
Mr. Burling’s quoted comments border on ignorant. When Friant Dam was built and the San Joaquin River blocked, my uncle, who grew up along that river near Biola with his siblings including my father, drove to Mendota to see the dead salmon. He told me many years later that one could have traversed the river bed on piled-up salmon.
Salmon are just one indicator of a healthy and viable environment. Seems like Burling et. al., as conservatives, would want to conserve and help maintain our natural resources for the present and the future.
Never miss a local story.
