Regarding the slaughter of chickens: Probation, really? Let me get this straight. Three boys kill 900 hundred helpless chickens, do $5,000 in damage and are getting probation?
The three of them should have to pay back Foster Farms $5,000 and the wages that had to be paid to have someone clean up the mess they made. If we don’t make these boys, or their parents, pay the damages this time, what happens next time? It could be someone’s pet or child they decide to beat to death. It was chickens this time. What was it the time before this?
Our actions have consequences. If not learned now. When? As a society we must teach the rules to live by. Being responsible is taught by having to make right what was made wrong. By learning this we gain respect for ourselves and others.
