After watching President Obama’s State of the Union address, I was really surprised (although I probably shouldn’t have been) by the immediate negative comments not only by the media but by many people I know.
Whether you agree with the president’s agenda or not, what has happened to the respect that our leader deserves?
It seems that respecting the office of the presidency and standing behind our leader’s decisions is a thing of the past, and it shocks me. At the very least, we should simply respect that this man has been duly elected. This is how it works in our country. Still, it is becoming more and more evident that the office of the presidency is to be ridiculed, mocked and constantly criticized.
What has happened to this great country of ours that we cannot even stand behind the leader that we have elected? Whether we voted for him or not is not the issue. The fact that he was elected to office should merit our allegiance at the very least.
