I am weary of the constant attacks on President Obama and Rep. Jim Costa for the lack of legislative movement for our nation and Valley.
During the 113th Congressional session, Rep. Costa secured a victory in the passage of a five-year Farm Bill. It provides funding and programs for farmers, ranchers and dairymen.
Additionally, he sponsored and the president signed HR 3607, the Victims of Child Abuse Re-authorization Act of 2013, which provides funding for Children’s Advocacy Centers, and co-sponsored HR 678, the Hydro-power Development and Rural Jobs Act, in collaboration with Rep. Scott Tipton (R-Colorado.) It, too, became law.
Failing in the session was the water legislation HR 4039 (the California Emergency Drought Relief Act), which would have increased deliveries by opening the delta cross-channel gates. Costa introduced this legislation with Rep. David Valadao of Hanford.
Rep. Costa is working with those on the opposite side of the aisle to further the vital needs of the Valley and nation. He has always been for the Valley and continues to do so in the new House.
