Gabriel Chavez, the Martin Luther King Jr. essay winner, wrote of social struggles in Fresno on his high school campus.
His persecutors, and they know who they are if they read, must awaken, re-evaluate what “cool” is and learn from the examples that Gabriel highlighted of life on campus.
He wrote brilliantly from his humble status and did not lash out. Congratulations on a well-deserved award.
Never miss a local story.
