It is amusing to read all the letters expressing outrage that the president did not attend the recent rally in Paris.
My question to those once again upset with the president is to wonder what their reaction was back in 2003 when Congress changed the name of “french fries” to “freedom fries” in their cafeterias. I suspect that most of those upset with the president now were among those cheering the dolts in Congress back then for really showing the French how we felt about them.
And what was the French offense that warranted this harsh sanction? Simply that France, along with any other smart person at the time, realized that the Iraq invasion was based on lies and was going to lead to a senseless loss of life on all sides.
History now shows France to have been in the right. The largest rally in the history of the world was staged in countless places the October before the invasion as an attempt to avert this disaster from taking place. Where was George W. Bush on that day?
