I read that the state will be taking in more taxpayer money than anticipated. I can just sense the giddiness of some politicians thinking about having more money to spend. I wish that these people would realize that we have some major issues that they refuse to address.
Until all of the unfunded liabilities are covered, we have no surplus. I am sure that the public worker unions will be fighting to add to these liabilities by increasing benefits from this projected extra money.
If there is additional tax money available, it should go to infrastructure, water and roads. This would not only address a couple of our greatest needs but also provide jobs within our state.
Finally, I am tired of paying taxes that politicians use for giveaway programs to buy votes. The tax-and-spend policies of Sacramento are destroying the middle class and it needs to stop.
