I have read many articles on air pollution in the Valley. There are burning fireplaces, vehicle exhausts, weather inversions, stagnant air and the list goes on. The news does a great job of posting air pollution days and what we should and shouldn’t do during these days.
Now we are spending billions of tax dollars on high-speed rail? Not everyone agrees with HSR and that’s OK. Everyone has their opinion.
My suggestion is, to give us much-needed relief from this deadly pollution, burrow giant tunnels through the Sierra Nevada and install giant wind suction fans at different intervals. When the air is bad, these fans can be activated (maybe even have pollution sensors, like solar sensors) and suck the bad air out to the Owens Valley where it will dissipate. This will be costly, but people will be healthier.
Is it more important to get from Point A to B (HSR) than improving people’s health?
