Robert Smiley (letter May 2) blames AB 1634 on "cats free to roam," giving dogs the "short end of the stick." Ridiculous!
Cats have been roaming free since they came into existence. Dogs as well. But dogs, being potentially dangerous when large and/or in packs, had to be controlled. Thus, licensing.
As for Animal Control not picking up loose cats: This is simply not factual. They pick up cats from my inhumane neighbor at a rate of two per day. Spay and neuter cats? No laugh, please make it so.
