In truth, I have always admired The Bee for its seemingly large variety of articles. But after "Shooter at Virginia Tech fit the profile," April 20, I was extremely disappointed with The Bee's decision to print the article.
For someone scanning the paper, one would notice the 1/2-inch type stating "Autism had been suggested" on the continuing portion of the article. Intrigued, I read it, thinking that the shooter had autism, like many other Bee readers. Wrong. Medical records, school records and police had no such diagnosis.
Thanks for making the autistic community appear violent, when in fact autism is highly misunderstood by most people. They're not, I can assure you. Do the community a favor, and don't do that again. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
Never miss a local story.
