Reading all the comments about "troop surge," "bad intelligence," "pullout" and such, I wonder if it ever occurred to anybody to ask the opinions of the actual combat soldiers and Marines fighting in Iraq? These brave men and women are part of the best professional fighting force on the planet.
Remember, young people don't face conscription anymore. These people are professionals. Just as the media consults other professionals about complex situations in our country's dealings, shouldn't the professional soldier (I'm talking about the guys and gals who drive the Humvees and carry the M-16s, not the "senior staff" officers) be asked what their opinions are about how this thing should be handled? We haven't heard their side yet.
