Sabrina Guyton (letter Nov. 9) calls for complete cessation of all gun production and sales to civilians, and mass collection and destruction of all guns. This has been tried in various countries and has been a dismal failure. In several instances it has rendered whole populations defenseless against state-sponsored persecution and annihilation.
Ms. Guyton reflects my sentiments on "gun control" exactly when she begins her letter, saying that she is questioning our society's gun-control laws. They don't work.
There is a poster in many businesses that says, "Use a gun and you're done." It goes on to list possible penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime. Good advice. Some more good advice: Give up our gun and you're done.
