I would like make a suggestion to Mike Rhodes, who wrote a letter to the editor on Sunday re: the new homeless ordinance.
He should visit an encampment and smell the overwhelming stench of urine, feces and rotting food. Count the piles of syringes and used condoms. Take a good look at the piles of trash.
Is he too chicken to do that? Know this: the homeless task force is made up of a sanitation crew and five officers. They have a lawyer to advise them when needed.
The real victims are the business owners who have customers reluctant to enter their stores due to a homeless person camped out in front of the business, or the business owner afraid to lock her door at the end of the day due to a homeless person screaming at people nearby.
Never miss a local story.
He should talk to the mother and her children seeing a homeless person washing his genitals in the water fountain at the Villagio Shopping Center. These folks are the real victims.
