Today I drove from Peralta to Shields avenues on Van Ness Boulevard. Of course I noted the grass on the center divider to be dead.
I found myself counting the number of deodar trees (11) in different states of distress. These are lovely, mature trees. My question is, why are our city leaders willing to let these trees die? With temperatures again triple digit for the next week, why will the city of Fresno not water one of our great assets?
In the past, I have seen city crews with watering equipment in other parts of the city. This is yet another example of city neglect, not paying attention to simple solutions regarding treasured assets. Reminds me that a stitch in time saves nine.
