On the afternoon of June 12, I took the family to Martin Ray Reilly Park at Chestnut and Highway 180 and was embarrassed for the people of Fresno. This looked like a fairly new park with basketball courts, a water attraction and a great jungle gym. It’s just too bad that the people who use that park are slobs.
There were fried chicken bones and pizza crusts on the ground around the jungle gym, cardboard in the water attraction and graffiti everywhere. We did not need to use the restrooms, but I could imagine.
So, do the people of Fresno and Clovis deserve parks? Not after what I saw. How hard is it to pick up after yourselves? If the garbage cans are full, take your garbage home and dump it there, but don’t leave it on the park grounds. Parks are for the enjoyment of all and should be treated with respect – not like a dump!
