We just finished our last day at Edison High School. We hugged all our teachers and those administrators we knew goodbye, thanking them for all the incredible work they’ve done. In our last day celebration, we stopped for ice cream.
To our distaste, we found a sticky mess on the table we’d chosen. We got to talking about how rude it is for someone to make a mess without cleaning up after themselves, and began to contemplate some unsung heroes. So here’s to the custodial staff at Edison High.
Teenagers leave their food all over the place on campus. They spill drinks and spit everywhere. They flood the bathrooms (daily) and destroy classrooms.
Yet, our custodians have never responded in kind. Despite so much inconsiderate behavior, they never fail to work hard and treat every student with respect. They are unfailingly helpful and always kind. They do their best to clean up our worst.
Never miss a local story.
So here’s our thank you for all their years of unacknowledged but vital work.
