I would gladly take credit, if credit were due, for the clever and well-attended mock town hall at Devin Nunes’s office Jan. 25.
In fact, I had nothing whatsoever to do with the planning of that event. Two smart women, whom I shall refer to here as “Nancy” and “Jenny,” made the decision to do the event and worked with their circles of friends to publicize it and carry it off. The Trump-resist group Indivisible sponsored an overlapping rally.
Nor was The Bee at fault for misidentifying me as the organizer of this event. Their information came from a press release from an organization I belong to that failed to make clear I would merely be present to take photos for California’s new universal healthcare bill, Senate Bill 562.
Thank you, event organizers. While Nunes apparently is not yet convinced he is welcome to “attend” a town hall, he has inadvertently helped us come together to share our news and views and have a good time. And despite him, all Californians may soon have healthcare.
Never miss a local story.
