The legacy will be the power of the television media to potentially influence the independent voter. In yearning for balance, I flip between local news, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News. This has helped to give me perspective on the world of politics.
This year is different. The coverage this year is not about comparing foreign and domestic issues or Clinton’s flaws, but rather, the personal attacks on Trump.
In 1803, Thomas Jefferson said, “It is so difficult to draw a clear line of separation between the abuse and the wholesome use of the press, that has yet we have found it better to trust the public judgment, rather than the magistrate, with the discrimination between truth and falsehood.”
The American public deserves a balanced media approach to deliver news that is informational and unbiased. I am ashamed that media today is controlled by special interests that are more concerned with their candidate of choice winning an election rather than delivering a balanced approach on both the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate. As an independent voter, I deserve better.
