I watched Donald Trump claim he settled the birther controversy in favor of the president, and then he had the gall to claim the controversy was one of Hillary Clinton’s own making.
His surrogates, with straight faces, came out the next day to repeat the same absurdities. Can Trump really get away with this? Everyone knows he rode to political prominence whipping this horse. Now that this same horse is wheezing and lame on the side of the road, can he simply claim “Hey, I wasn’t riding it; she was. But I at least did the right thing by putting it down.”
Is this what we need? Someone with the gall to say whatever it takes to get elected? Never apologizing for anything? Never showing shame for shameful acts?
When many pick their news source, not on the quality of its journalism, but on the friendliness toward their team, do facts even matter?
Trump famously said that he could shoot someone in the middle of the street, and his supporters would stick with him. I predict most of them won’t refute anything I’ve written here, but instead repeat the same tired, debunked anecdotes about Hillary.
