Regarding Victor Davis Hanson’s article of Sept. 18 with the title “Obama leaves us a legacy of Trump.” The title is a complete distortion of the historical facts. Mr. Hanson’s conclusion: “Obama’s only legacy seems to be that ‘hope and change’ beget ‘make America great again.’ ” This conclusion is that of a political ideologue rather than that of an objective historian.
Mr. Hanson’s thesis is that Obama is responsible for Trump. This is wrong on its face! Trump would not be in this presidential election without the Republican Party and the help of Fox News, commentators and writers like Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Mr. Hanson. On the international scene, it was George W. Bush that ordered the U.S. invasion of Iraq with lies that produced the scourge in the Middle East and Europe.
In the U.S. it was the combination of Republicans in Congress and the Corporate State (Wall Street) who helped make a mockery of our democratic form of government; President Obama is not responsible for Trump as Mr. Hanson asserts.
