A Fresno fundraiser for House Speaker John Boehner attracted around 100 guests and raised a bit under $200,000, one of the people close to the organizers said Friday.
The private luncheon was hosted by businessman Richard Spencer and his wife, Karen, as well as three of the Ohio Republican’s closest congressional allies — Devin Nunes, Jeff Denham and David Valadao. It was held at Spencer’s Harris Construction offices near Fresno Yosemite International Airport. It benefitted a joint fundraising committee composed of Boehner, the National Congressional Campaign Committee, The Freedom Project and the Ohio Republican Party State Central & Executive Committee.
Co-chairs of the event included Granville Homes President Darius Assemi, businessman Bob Smittcamp, businessman Ed Donaghy and his wife Judy, Sanger rancher John Harris and his wife Carole, and Mid Valley Disposal’s Jay Kalpakoff, among others.
Entry wasn’t cheap: $1,000 per person to get in the door and $5,000 for two tickets and a photo with Boehner. Co-chairs contributed or raised $10,000 and got two tickets to a private roundtable briefing with Boehner, as well as four tickets to the main event as well as the Boehner photo op.
