State Sen. Anthony Cannella, R-Ceres announced Friday that he hired retired Madera County Sheriff John Anderson as his 12th District field representative and law enforcement liaison, representing Madera and Fresno communities.
“I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with John for several years, and throughout that time, he has repeatedly shown himself as a dedicated public servant committed to protecting the Madera communities,” Cannella said in a statement. “With more than 50 years of law enforcement service, including serving 16 years as Madera County sheriff, I am confident John’s diverse set of skills will serve our constituents well.”
Anderson reciprocated the praise: “Sen. Cannella is a man who repeatedly has shown his dedication to his constituents and communities, and shows a strong commitment to public safety. I look forward to working with him to continue his efforts in making sure the Madera and Fresno communities are represented and heard.”
Outside of sheriff, Cannella noted Anderson’s public service has included serving in the Army in Germany and Laos and acting as a police officer, deputy sheriff and commander of the California Highway Patrol’s Northern and Central divisions and CHP Academy.
Never miss a local story.
Politically, Anderson has served as a special representative to the Legislature and Congress when he worked for the CHP. He also provided consulting services to the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Miami-Dade Police Department.
