Chukchansi Park's bumpy finances a potent issue in Fresno elections

Fresno’s $45.8 million downtown stadium has been a great place to watch baseball, but decisions made in the initial deal – and support for it by then-Council Members Henry R. Perea and Garry Bredefeld – have proven controversial 14 years later. And Councilman Lee Brand’s role in cutting the Fresno Grizzlies’ annual rent in half has been equally debated. Brand and Perea are now seeking to become Fresno’s next mayor, and Bredefeld wants to again represent District 6 on the council.

In Indiana, Kasich voters rebel against Cruz

Some of John Kasich’s supporters in Indiana are disappointed that the Ohio governor is bypassing their state and are not buying into the “stop Trump” vote. Some voters see the pact and the early vice presidential choice of Carly Fiorina by Ted Cruz to be political gamesmanship.

Ted Cruz’s announcement of Carly Fiorina as his running mate came Wednesday in Indiana, where Cruz is laboring to keep his candidacy afloat, but with a careful eye on California, where the campaign could be decided. Fiorina was widely praised in both her 2010 Senate campaign and long-shot presidential campaign for her performance in debates.
