Three companies have turned in proposals to build a new home for the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.
They are the Penstar Group (Tom Richards) and Lance-Kashian and Co. (Ed Kashian), both of Fresno, and Bakersfield-based Giumarra Properties.
The deadline for turning in a proposal was 2 p.m. Friday. John Hays, principal administrative analyst with Fresno County, said on Monday that each company turned in a box of papers. He said he didn’t know if each box has only one proposal.
Hays said an evaluation panel will sift through everything. He said the proposals and the panel’s meetings are closed to the public, in part because the county may want to negotiate with one or more of the firms.
The DA’s Office is now in the old Del Webb building south of Courthouse Park. The county wants to move the operations of DA Elizabeth Egan into an existing building, upgraded for the 21st century, or a brand new building. The new home has to be in downtown.
Rumor has it that the old Bank of Italy Building and the Rowell Building could be in the hunt.
