Fresno Unified on Friday unveiled free Wi-Fi on all of its 99 school buses.
The district said the change is to help make traveling time to athletic events and other student activities useful.
Students can access the free Wi-Fi, which is filtered, by using the username “FUSD_BUS” and entering the passcode “iamready” on their mobile devices.
The internet connection is the same as provided at Fresno schools and blocks some content that is inappropriate or distracting for students, such as Facebook and eBay.

The initiative cost the district $150,000.
Fresno Unified provides transportation services to more than 5 million riders to and from campuses each school year.
